2018 Vans US Open of Surfing: Watch Online or Put Your Toes on the Sand

By: Simone Graham – Editor: FREE: I can smell the beach now. I am a California girl through and through and lived for six of my younger years in Palos Verdes close to Redondo Beach. Before we left and moved inland, my brother already had his surfboard and made the trek back to the beach for several years to practice the sport and work on his knots . I have fond memories of camping at Doheny, watching him and his friends surf, wipe out, wrap banged body parts, and then finishing the day enjoying the summer beach evenings after the day’s surfing spectacle. The feel of beach sand under my feet is part of my soul. If you already love the lifestyle or you just want to see what it is all about, this weekend’s surf event is open to everyone online or is an hour and a half drive from the high desert.
