Too ‘Scawy’! Harvest & Halloween Events Near You

Simone Graham – Editor:  You still have two weekends left for pre-Halloween activities and events in the High Desert and cities nearby. Here is a list of carnivals, haunted houses, festivals, and trunk or treat events for you to choose from in the next week and a half.

1. StrangerThings Upsidedown Haunted House

The haunted house is going to be cool! Bring the family to Ranchero Middle School on Friday, October 26th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., food, games, carnival booths, trick or treating, and music.


2. Hesperia Boo at the Zoo  Oct. 19 +
Scare-free fun! Nights added, RESERVATIONS REQUIRED due to high interest.

Boo at the Zoo is a neighborhood of safe Halloween entertainment, with spooky delight around every corner, including animals on exhibit each evening. There is a Creepy Crawly Critter Animal Show after the flashlight tour, and each child receives complimentary treats, so bring a trick or treat bag! Kids and adults are encouraged to wear fun (not too scary) costumes.
CASH ONLY for purchases from the gift shop.

Tickets:  Adults (12+) $12.00, Children (11 & under) $8.00, Seniors (63+) $8.00, Gate opens at 6:30 p.m.

3. Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Apple Valley Civic Center Park

Come on out to Apple Valley’s Annual Trunk or Treat hosted with Police Activities League for a day full of, candy and some downright spooky trunks. Don’t forget to enjoy free candy and some tasty food from our vendors.


4. Hesperia Halloween Haunted House and Maze 

Join us for a frightening night at the 10th Annual Halloween Haunted House and Maze at the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station on Oct.27th beginning at 5:00 p.m. Featuring a costume contest, bounce houses, face painting and plenty of games, there is sure to be something for every ghoul and ghost!

Join us at Calico Ghost Town as we celebration the fun and excitement of Halloween. Event includes, trick-or-treating, costume contests, pumpkin carving, kids carnival tent, stage shows, haunted attractions and more.
Friday, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Sat. 9:00 a.m. – 10:00, & Sun. 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Daily Admission: Adults: $15 / Youth 4-11: $10 / 3 and under FREE.


10. Halloween Carnival and Trunk or Treat
Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Hesperia United Methodist Church – On the Hill

Open to all people, of all ages. Games, food, Haunted House, Opportunity drawings with tons of good prizes and our redemption booth has a lot of good stuff. Tickets are very affordable to make sure the kids and the entire family will have much fun.



11. Hesperia Hot Rod Halloween 2018 October 27  2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Hesperia Civic Plaza Park, 15833 Smoke Tree, on October 27, 2018,

Looking for a frighteningly good time this Halloween? Bring all the monsters, ghouls and goblins to  from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for Hot Rod Halloween 2018. Admission is FREE to the public and includes a classic car show, costume parade, carnival games, and food vendors. Thank you to our partner The Route 103!

There is no pre-registration, just show up the morning of the event: The gates will open at 12:00 noon, we ask that you are in, parked & ready to go by 1:30. A crew will be there ready to assist with the parking. Cost of entry is $10 (cash only) which will go toward the Hesperia Police Activites League. Please remember to bring candy for the Trick-or-Treaters (about 1,000 pieces).


High Desert Haunted House

Experience the Victoria Manor Haunted House & Deadwood Ghost Town. Two Haunted Houses, one location. Voted top 5 Haunted Houses in Southern California. Only $10.00 with two cans of food. As always, new rooms, new additions, new characters, many upgrades.
