Joshua Tree National Park Holding Community Input Meetings Starting Oct. 3

JOSHUA TREE,  Calif. – Many who live in the High Desert would like to preserve its natural beauty and wildlife. Take this opportunity to give your ideas and opinions on how that should be done. Victorville Fall Festival Is Here: Road Closures Start Friday

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – In preparation for and during the City of Victorville 2019 Fall Festival, there will be road closures on Civic Drive between Seneca Road and Ramona Avenue and on West Sage Street from Park Avenue to Civic Drive. These road closures will begin Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. and continue through Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 p.m.

Motorists will be required to take alternate routes. Those planning to attend the City of Victorville Fall Festival are asked to use caution when traveling in the area near this special event as increased pedestrian traffic is expected.

Victor Valley College Student Lands Job With USGS

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — Charity Lindsey: Victor Valley College student Brent Velasquez is conducting groundbreaking research. Literally. The 24-year-old recently landed a highly competitive and coveted job with the United States Geological Survey, for which he is participating in earthquake prediction and hydrology research.

“It’s hands-on science and hands-on work,” Velasquez said. “We have over 140 sites (where we collect data) across Southern California. Our office is managing all of that.”

Victorville Applications For 23rd Annual Veteran’s Day Parade & Ceremony

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The City of Victorville is inviting the community to participate in its 23rd Annual Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony, Nov. 11. Parade entry applications and Veteran Information Forms are now available on the City’s website.

As part of tradition, the City will host its Salute to Victorville Veterans during the Ceremony. The City’s goal is to include as many Victorville Veterans as possible and honor them during this tribute.

AQMD Gives Exemplar Award To Northwest Pipe Company

VICTORVILLE, Calif — Northwest Pipe Company in Adelanto was recognized this week with Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District’s prestigious Exemplar Award. The award is presented annually to entities or individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the prevention and/or control of air pollution within the District’s numerous communities. MDAQMD Executive Director Brad Poiriez presented the award to Northwest Pipe officials at the District’s regular Governing Board meeting on Monday.

Enter Apple Valley Annual Reverse Triathlon

APPLE VALLEY, Calif.- The Apple Valley Reverse Triathlon will be held at the beautiful Civic Center Park, and Aquatic Center. The Reverse Triathlon will start with a 5k run and transition into a 12 mile flat road course and finish with a 150 yd. pool swim. The Apple Valley kid’s triathlon will consist of a .75 mile run, 1 mile bike ride, and a 50 yard swim. Last, but not least, the event will also include a 5K for runners.
